What is CVS?

CVS Pharmacy Inc, often abbreviated to CVS, is the largest pharmacy chain in the United States with nearly 10,000 locations in 49 states.

CVS was founded in Massachusetts in 1963 and was originally called the Consumer Value Store. It quickly spread across the US and is now headquartered in Rhode Island with offices in 49 of the 50 US states.

What does CVS sell?

As a pharmacy, CVS sells prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, cosmetics, beauty products, greeting cards, prepared foods, seasonal items, and photography and filming services.

It operates through CVS Pharmacy Stores, Longs Drugs retail stores, and also has an online store at CVS.com and a CVS app.

Many CVS pharmacies also offer health care services through medical clinics called MinuteClinic, of which there are more than 1,100, and diabetes care centers.

What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is a way to pay with your Apple device, whether it's an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac.

Payments can be easily made online through Safari, through iOS apps, or in-store with Apple Pay. Apple Pay is accepted by most in-store and online retailers.

Apple Pay acts as a digital wallet by adding payment and bank card details to your Apple Wallet. Like contactless payments, Apple Pay can be used instead of a credit or debit card, replacing lengthy chip and PIN transactions with a simple tap.

Purchases require two-factor authentication in the form of a passcode, PIN number, Touch ID, or Face ID to provide an additional layer of security similar to a bank card PIN.

Apple Pay can only be used on devices made by Apple, and as such, Google/Android and Samsung have different payment methods that work in a similar way.

Does CVS accept Apple Pay in the store?

Yes, CVS accepts Apple Pay as a method of payment in the store. CVS began accepting Apple Pay in late 2018. Pharmacy counters, checkouts and self-service checkouts all accept Apple Pay.

Other retailers started accepting Apple Pay in 2015, but CVS previously had its own contactless payment system called CVS Pay. This worked in a similar way, with a QR code generating a payment. In 2018, CVS decided to stop doing that and start accepting payments on a variety of devices.

Does CVS accept Apple Pay in CVS Online or in the CVS app?

Although CVS accepts Apple Pay in-store, it does not accept Apple Pay online in the CVS online store or in the CVS app. Accepted payment methods for CVS online and the app are credit cards, Visa Checkout, PayPal, or a CVS gift card.

How do you pay at CVS with Apple Pay?

You can pay in-store at CVS using your iPhone or Apple Watch. When reviewing your purchases, select the Apple Pay option and click on your Apple Wallet on your device.

  • Quickly double-click the side of the iPhone or watch.
  • Authorize the purchase via configured two-factor authentication, e.g. B. bringing it close to your face, touching the home sensor, or entering the PIN or access code.
  • Hold your phone or watch close to the contactless payment reader.
  • After a few seconds, the payment reader will confirm that the payment has been made by a beep, a flashing green light, or a tick on the screen.

Can you get a refund with Apple Pay at CVS?

Yes, you can get a refund with Apple Pay at CVS, but this is only possible when customers use a Discover card as their Apple Pay method by depositing that Discover card into Apple Wallet.

CVS has a $35 in-store cash back limit when using a debit card.

CVS customers can receive 1% back on purchases made with Apple Pay with the Discover Cashback debit card. Customers can be reimbursed up to $120 every 24 hours.

How do you know if your local store accepts Apple Pay?

Most CVS stores, including more than 8,600 stores in multiple locations, accept Apple Pay. There are two ways to find out if your local store accepts Apple Pay:

  1. Go to the Apple website, which has a regularly updated website for all the major retailers that accept Apple Pay. You can search for your location on the website to get a list of all your local stores that accept Apple Pay and see if CVS is on that list.
  2. The Apple Maps app will also be updatedInformation about which stores in which locations accept Apple Pay. Open the Apple Maps app, search for CVS, and select your nearest CVS store. There will be an information section called "Useful to Know". A check mark will appear next to Apple Pay in this section if the payment is accepted at this location.
